Zhang Hui Mei(A-mei), is an aboriginal Taiwanese pop singer and occasional songwriter. A-mei made her debut in the world of music in 1996, achieving instant mega commercial success. She has frequently been called a diva of the Mandarin pop music scene, as well as the "Pride of Taiwan". She has won numerous music awards and become one of the biggest music sensations within the pop music pantheon of the Mandarin-speaking world. To celebrate the success of "Star", A-mei and EMI held a concert in Taiwan in September 2007. The concert is seen as preparation for her STAR World Tour that kicks off in Shanghai on November 3rd. The tour is rumored to go on till 2009 with the last show in Hong Kong. Other locations include USA, Singapore, Taiwan, Beijing, Malaysia and more. From March 27th till 22nd of May 2008, A-mei is performing in a Japanese version of Turandot, the performance is in Japanese and is playing in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
